This 24st edition of the European Energy Transition Conference, which will be held in Bordeaux, will be the opportunity for the organizers, partners and participants to reassert the main lines of action so as to move towards energy transition that has the support of all the levels of the civil society and the political decisionmakers.
Since 1999, the European Energy Transition Conference has been an annual key event for players engaged in the energy transition in our territories. Each year, the Conference receives more than 3,500 participants (communities, scientists and experts in the ecological transition, as well as economic players and associations), for 3 days of discussions and debates. The programme will feature over a hundred events, with plenary sessions, round tables, interviews, testimonials, workshops and site visits, to meet up, share, exchange and boost inspiration!
In order to provide an overall vision of the current major issues linked to energy transition and the fight against climate change, the European Energy Transition Conference proposes a series of plenary sessions in the presence of experts and important testifiers, that will enable you at once to decipher the current developments, explore the emerging trends and fill up on inspiration.

Every year the Energy Conference offers a programme of workshops built up in partnership with the players committed to energy transition in the regions in order to make the event a real concentrated mix of sharing of experience, ideas and concrete solutions. This year, no fewer than 300 contributors – elected representatives, citizens, researchers, companies or again local technicians, have taken part in drawing up this programme.

A veritable « event within the event », the Energy Transition Jobs Forum aims to make known the new sectors and the jobs resulting from them and the means of gaining access to them.
Over the 3 days, energy transition operators, businesses, institutions and training bodies put themselves at the disposal of schoolchildren and students, people seeking employment or in the process of vocational integration, professionals
undergoing redeployment in order to inform them and sensitize them to the prospects for employment and training in today’s and tomorrow’s jobs in the various energy sectors.
As the host area for the European Energy Transition Conference, Bordeaux Métropole invites its citizens to live for a few weeks in tune with the event and is launching its « OFF » programme of activities covering the whole area. Thus, from may 1st to may 31, nearly 80 projects dealing with energy transition and sustainable development are being proposed: workshops, conferences, debates, visits, etc.
Because of the COVID-19 crisis, the event, held in Dunkirk, was 100% digital and free of charge, with discussions streamed online for the first time in its history. Over the course of three days, many key players (elected local officials, government officials, economic players, academics, and representatives of civil society) spoke live in “large-format” plenary sessions to immerse viewers fully in energy transition news.
This 21st edition, built around the theme “Together we can act!” promotes volunteering in energy transition, and stresses the need to accelerate initiatives in this sense. At a time of climate marches, the #YouthForClimate movement, and public policy’s increasing focus on ecological issues, the 2020 edition aims to create a true sounding board for the innovations promoted by various social stakeholders and their potential for action. Regional resilience, the environmental impact of digital technologies, the use of hydrogen, local heat, etc.: all of these topics are addressed during the three days dedicated to the energy transition in the Bordeaux region.
Since 1999, the European Energy Transition Conference has been the annual meeting place for those involved in the energy transition of territories.
