From its location in the centre of Europe, Geneva has a long tradition of playing host to important meetings and international organisations such as the United Nations, World Health Organisation, International Labour Organisation, International Committee of the Red Cross and the European Organisation for Nuclear Research. For centuries, Geneva has imposed itself as a cultural centre and is home to many creative minds in the science and arts fields. It presents the advantages offered by a small city combined with the commodities and services of a conurbation; in addition, Geneva is in one of the most beautiful parts of Europe, surrounded by lakes and mountains.
